The apple quicktime mpeg 2 playback component free download for mac air pro

Hi.Sadly, Mpeg Streamclip no longer works under Sierra. Jumping through the OS hoops to manually install the MPEG2 component fails.

Such a shame as this was a brilliantly simple and useful app for trimming out the bits and pieces one needed for their project without having to import / convert massive files.FCPX amazingly still is incredibly clunky when it comes to quick trim 'n' convert operations for VOB files etcAll I need to do is to be able to grab this bit and that bit from various VOB's, large mp4 files etc for use in FCPX projects. Iskysoft's video converter is horrible and has a very poor interface.Isn't there a better / cheaper alternative out there? The last version of MPEG Streamclip, offered free on Squared 5's website for MacOS and Windows, is a beta dated August 2012. Small wonder it doesn't work any longer for most of us.

At MacUpdate.com there is a post from November, 2016, stating it still works in Sierra for that user but the interface is broken. Sierra has locked down the System Library unlike previous OS versions and installing the MPEG Component into the QT folder is said to no longer be possible. I do not know myself.I found only two alternatives for MPEGSC. Neither is free, roughly US$50.00. The far away guys behind PAVTUBE & their many many clones have finally found a 'serious' reason to advertise again their do-it-all-even-coffee converter.Sad the way Apple deprecated & crippled the QT framework after every OS update.MPEGStreamclip is totally build on the QT7 architecture and this legacy player, especially under it's Pro version has been a fine workhorse when we needed simple extracts and/or conversions. Now QT7Pro can't even read correctly h.264 files with a higher bitrate anymore. One other reason why for my part I'm still sticking to ElCap.MPEGStreamclip was the turbocharged interface of QT7Pro.RIP now! I've just upgraded to Sierra. MPEG Streamclip was working before the upgrade.

After upgrading it still runs and will happily work with all it's usual file types except anything that needs the MPEG2 component. But, like TJ7 I use it to cut little pieces out of VOBS or whole DVDs. So I dug around a little and found a fairly simple way to get it working. Apple have removed the QuickTime folder from the /Library/ folder. Which is where streamclip looks for the MPEG2.component. So to get streamclip to work with MPEG2 files, try the following.Get a copy of the MPEG2.component - I already had it in /System/Library/QuickTime - So I just copied itIn finder use the Go to Folder option from the Go Menu and enter /Library/In this folder make a new folder, Name it QuickTimePut the Mpeg2.component inside the folder.Try StreamclipI loaded a few VOBs and exported short clips from them. Their are a couple of issues.

The playhead doesn’t stay under the mouse pointer when you drag. You sometimes get visual glitches when dragging to find the point you want. This isn’t seen in the output.I can’t say if this will work for all MPEG2 files you try. I tried a few and it worked. I've just upgraded to Sierra. MPEG Streamclip was working before the upgrade. Sort of.HORRIBLE interface.Fu^&ing QUITS when you use the 'open with' facility of mac os X.The ONLY way to open VOB files is to navigate to the folder and you HAVE to select the ENTIRE VIDEOTS folder. You can't just open one VOB file.Sigh.

It works, but what a tedious process to go through.

Thanks for your answer but it seems you can't read.1.) It's simple too buy a copy from the store, for that i did'nt need help.2.) I've bought a copy a long time ago.i don't buy a new one. Just spend 2500 euros on a new computer.3.)I don't know and have my apple ID anymore.4.) I only wanted to know if the components i've listed are the ones. And if so why don't they work.I wonder if everything installed on your computer is legal! If so you are a saint. Probably also the only one who does not have stolen software! Probably also the only one who does not have stolen software! My apologies for the offense. When someone posts they are trying to install commercial software they received from a friend – yet they don't have the installer – it does hint of stealing. I did give you the benefit of the doubt by pointing out it can be downloaded again by logging into the Apple Store. Sorry you forgot your Apple ID and didn't save a copy of the installer as a backup. My advice to you is to be more aware of how you describe things in your posts so that it doesn't look the way yours came across.Your turn.
